About

Beachfield is a 6-bedded Residential Care Home for adults with autism, learning disabilities and challenging behaviour presenting with complex care needs. There are 6 large and spacious bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities. In the main house there are two comfortable, spacious living rooms, a dining room/large kitchen where tasty and nutritious homemade meals are expertly prepared. Within the garden, Beachfield residents can enjoy the garden or take a short walk into the village onto the beach. Residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms with their own belongings, furniture and, if preferred, decorated with their choice of décor. Beachfield enjoys the benefits of a large garden, where residents can sit and relax or play and enjoy themselves.

Residents are encouraged to live a full, busy life and are encouraged to go out every day; some for a long walk, whilst others will go to the beach, swimming, horse-riding, shopping or to the local parks– whatever they most enjoy. Beachfield residents are often out in the evenings too, and particularly like attending the cinema and local theatres. Using public transport is an important life skill, and it is greatly encouraged here, although there are also company vehicles available and parking space for those with their own Motability vehicles.

Professional and Highly Trained Staff

The Home has a highly dedicated team of friendly and professional carers, catering, maintenance and household staff, all of whom are trained within their specialities. Specialist training is given on NAPPI, Autism, Learning Disabilities and behaviours that challenge, First aid and Moving and Handling as well as regular mandatory training provided by a highly qualified trainer and Registered Nurse, ensuring compliance and competence to the highest standards.

The Home is led by the Registered Manager, Kim Tappin who has years experience in care and managing and supporting a home such as Beachfield and has previously worked as a deputy manager in one of our other care homes, The Roses. Kim and her team, including her deputy manager Lettie Hewitt, are further supported by the Area Manager Hayley Ashton who has her NVQ 5 and has extensive experience in managing and supporting homes such as Beachfield. Both of which are supported fully by the Director Rebecca Marks who frequently visits the home. Jenny, our Clinical Care Lead also supports the home as she is a Registered Nurse and supports the team with all things Clinical and training.

Beachfield works very closely with the resident’s families, GP’s, IATT teams, District Nursing team, Social Workers, chiropody, dentist, opticians, physiotherapists and all other professionals involved in a resident’s care.

Quality of Life

Many of our residents require a high level of care and support and we cater for all complex needs. In order to achieve this we have a good staff provision with staff who are trained and have empathy and passion for our residents. Many of our residents are from differing backgrounds therefore a full life history profile is carried out prior to admission which enables us to apply a person centred approach as well as being able to share and enjoy their many experiences of life. We see Beachfield as being synonymous to excellent care and support never losing sight that our residents are centre to all that we do.
